- @hnarsana just noticed your old tweet on netbook remix. Thats what I've got on my netbook. Quite satisfied. in reply to hnarsana #
- @codemonkeyism haven't yet understood the sweet spot of static groovy. Still searching for one in reply to codemonkeyism #
- @sbtourist is this a specialisation of the broader debate about light vs heavy weight engineering or something else ? re: OSGI / engg pract. in reply to sbtourist #
- @sbtourist Unsure abt OSGi, but JEE complexity / weight turned me off after 11 years (even Spring) /cc @emileifrem @njbartlett in reply to sbtourist #
- @sbtourist JEE has twice as complex API to thrice more devs than necessary. Spring is now the problem it once solved @emileifrem @njbartlett in reply to sbtourist #
- @sbtourist so my feeling is "perhaps" OSGi / Spring /… are increasingly useful solution to increasingly fewer devs @emileifrem @njbartlett in reply to sbtourist #
- @sbtourist Though hoping to do JRE based programming soon with scala n other lighter weight tools
in reply to sbtourist # - #rant I think Java (the lang) & JEE (the big spec) should be locked up and shared by a secret society of infrastructure engineers ..contd #
- ..contd.. most java devs should work with a simpler langs n far simpler API ecosystem. So many java devs using so many APIs is such a waste #
- @njbartlett Speaking broadly (not OSGi) it becomes less useful to the subset which has to deal with APIs which could've been hidden eg rails in reply to njbartlett #
- @njbartlett I do not know sufficiently about OSGi beyond theoretical reading so it would be unfair to comment on it specifically in reply to njbartlett #
- @njbartlett not sure whether it is behavioural or structural .. but eventually people do end up learning n using many parts of spring in reply to njbartlett #
- @njbartlett You are correct (re:Hiding, iBatis/JDBC etc.). Yet big diff in complexity n lrng curve 4 similar features compared 2 other langs in reply to njbartlett #
- @themue Both of us shall continue to wish for a simpler, easier, lighter ecosystem I'm afraid
in reply to themue # - @sbidwai not so sure about that. not using spring can make things more difficult for enterprise saas as well. in reply to sbidwai #
- Couple of posts on my codeblog in couple of days. Ruby/Python Metaprogramming http://is.gd/69hHH & Tornado Interceptors http://is.gd/6el9F #
- @jneira What is reliability in the context of your Java / Erlang statement ? in reply to jneira #
- Am Confused "Erlang systems are not scalable and reliable. Java systems are. Erlang .. rock solid" http://is.gd/6gGmJ Reliable?? /cc @jneira #
